Comfortable, Sleek, Transmission Failed at 87,000
By Steve | on Sunday, August 30, 2020
Purchased a 2014 certified in 2016 coming off a lease. No accidents and regular maintenance, plus someone else eating the depreciation made this a solid choice that fell in my price range. At the time it had 24,000 miles. Historically I've purchased CPO Cadillacs and was pleasantly surprised by the comparable ride the Regal offered in compliment with the European styling. I was not prepared for the relentless stream of reliability issues, however. I performed all recommended maintenance, generally about 1,000 miles prior to the recommendation. My previous two Cadillacs made it to 200,000+ miles with no major issues despite those vehicles having several known recalls. This Buick had no major ones that I know of. First the electronics got quirky, around 40,000 miles. Speedometer stuck randomly then resolved itself; back up camera on for the entire drive, etc. Nothing major and often self resolved, but concerning. Next an air intake code with no known cause started popping at about 50,000 miles with a drop in performance. After replacing sensors, filters etc and the code remaining I accepted reality and acknowledged that my turbo went. At 57,000 miles the sensor in the front passenger wheel went bad which disabled power steering and was ultimately$475 in parts when replaced by myself on a friend's lift in a garage. This subsequently occured on the back driver tire at 60,000 miles. At 70,000 miles the timing went and was replaced. At 87,000 the full transmission blew and I gave up and bought an Infiniti.… - 5.0

Probably the best driving car in price range
By Perplexed | on Monday, October 19, 2020
I have owned the car for nearly five years. I still enjoy the way it drives every time I get in. (it actually is a German car - Opel Insignia) The controls are really logical. The steering is spot on. The road feel is spot on. The Bose sound system is pretty good. The only complaints I have are the seats could be more comfortable and the transmission is not calibrated as well as it could be. You can get the same design through 2017. I understand the 2018 redesign does not drive as sporty. Make sure you flush the transmission every 50k miles. Had rear wheel bearings go (there is an update with shields and better bolts) and the VVT solenoids, both around 80K miles…
